William James Westbrook, born in Salem Massachusetts on October 13th of 1986 to Liam and Olivia Westbrook, is a Homicide Detective for the New York City Police Department.An only child, William has always had quite the solum life. Growing up his parents faught frequently until they eventually split when he was nine years old. His school life hadn't been much better than his home, filled with constant bullying and disregard.William eventually found the surprising embrace of a woman named Aylana Romano when he was eighteen years old. The pair became very close friends and shared a bond unlike any other despite their vast differences.Aylana admired William for his dedication, intelligence and how he balanced empathy with his contrasting career. In turn, William admired Aylana's personality, compassion and inspiration. He always found ways to playfully toy around with her in her belief in the unknown and the spiritual while his remained majorly skeptical.However, after nearly three years of the pair living together as roommates, their relationship slowly began to drift as William became more enveloped into his line of work while Aylana became more interested in him.The tension caused Aylana and William to separate temporarily, a motive to have William realize how impactful Aylana was to him and for Aylana to decide if she is willing to cope with his career choice due to her intense feelings for him.One night, William returned home incredibly late into the night and had begun to hear spurts of talking and noises around the home. Thinking it due to lack of sleep and just the home shifting given the age of it, he brushed it all off and had fallen asleep on his couch without changing from normal work wear.His week prior consisted of endless days and nights at work. Unfortunately, this very same night would be the one where Aylana chooses what she had been wanting all along. The result would become far more permanent than either Aylana or William expected.Unknowing of Williams days on end without sleep, Aylana tried to contact him to no avail. Worrying about hum, she drove to him after realizing she still had a key to the home they once called theirs.Entering the home, she called out to him and began to wander around the dimly lit room. Moving herself into the living room, she had spotted him on the couch and approached, placing just her hand upon his shoulder before William had startled awake.Quickly grabbing her hand out of pure instinct, he got up and swung her around all while his free hand grabbed hold of his sidearm. Unable to think of a second thought and clouded by trauma, his finger squeezed the trigger.An accidental Homicide right in the place they once shared meals, laughs and stories. Distraught and discombobulated, William took Aylana into his arms and quickly got into his patrol vehicle and sped off to the nearest hospital.While there, hospital staff alerted police due to Williams frantic nature and due to how Aylana became injured in the first place. The entire time he had demanded help, William was unaware Aylana had already passed in his arms before he had stepped foot inside the Hospital.Taken in to custody by his own, they questioned him and put him on a two year probation. Since that night, William keeps himself away from Aylana's grave. His guilt far too great for him to feel he deserves to see her.The silence and cloudy nature has fully engulfed William, but that isn't the only thing consuming him.Since Aylana's passing, William has developed a tick every time he becomes overwhelmed, stressed or angry. Along with his pre-existing ptsd, William now takes a handful of pills daily for his diagnosed mild case of schizophrenia.Following Aylana's death, William began to hear a multitude of voices and sounds. He even had a few instances where he had been talking to someone, but they weren't physically there. Ruling out anything spiritual from the beginning, a non believer and skeptic as he claims to always be.Now a days, William is still one of the best NYPD Homicide Detectives. His past buried deep within the departments archives, but remaining just below the surface within himself.
Appearance
William stands at 6'0 tall and has an athletic build. His hair is of longer length with the sides slightly clipped shorter than the top. Williams hair is dark brown and almost always combed back to keep it from obscuring his view, although sometimes his product fails and his hair becomes flowy.William has a handful of tattoos scattered around his body { most will be pictured in the III tab }.He can be seen most days usually wearing dark, moody colored clothes. His badge always stays clipped on his belt located at the left side of his hip.William also wears a few rings on every other finger, though none really carry much significance.
Notable features & characteristics
•Located on his right hand, William has the zodiac signs of Leo, Scorpio, Aries & Virgo tattooed upon each knuckle.•Located upon the left side of his neck, an 8 pointed star lays. Its a symbol that refers to strength, compassion and most notably warding off evil.•Lastly, William has two sparrows tattooed on the left side of his chest. This tattoo is without a doubt the least shown around as it represents not only himself, but the only one he had held the closest.
•When William becomes overwhelmed, stressed, or angry his eyes blink harshly as a coping mechanism and a developed tick.•William takes a handful of pills daily, sometimes even hourly depending on how badly he needs them.•Diagnosed by Doctors as having a mild, worsening case of Schizophrenia, William is not allowed alcohol or a lot of caffine, but he does have a bad habit of smoking cigarettes.•Because of his medical history and diagnosis, William usually keeps to himself outside of work and even sometimes during.•Despite being diagnosed with mild schizophrenia, this is not what William truly has. Misdiagnosed years ago.•William is truly a very empathetic Medium, connected strongly to the spiritual realm, though he constantly shuns it out and denies it.•Aylana is the one who haunts William.
